In a significant stride for global exploration, NomadMania, a preeminent platform for international travelers, has recently included the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) in its esteemed region list. This development, spearheaded by the Philippine Global Explorers (PGE) advocacy efforts, highlights BARMM as a unique, predominantly Muslim enclave, distinctively different from the rest of the Philippines.
The BARMM, a region of profound cultural and historical significance, is located in the southern part of the Philippines. It comprises the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, and the city of Cotabato (HQ of Bangsamoro). This region is celebrated for its rich cultural heritage, vibrant traditions, and stunning natural landscapes, encompassing pristine beaches, lush mountains, and a rich marine biodiversity.
The Philippine Global Explorers have been pivotal in promoting the cultural and tourism potential of Sulu and the Bangsamoro region, in collaboration with prestigious international travel communities such as the Most Traveled People (MTP), Extreme Traveler International Congress (ETIC), and the Swedish Travel group – Club100.
NomadMania, renowned for its comprehensive framework that allows travelers to document and share their journeys, organizes the world into various regions, offering badges and recognition for visiting specific places. The addition of BARMM to this list is expected to attract a wave of international travelers, eager to explore this distinct and culturally rich area.
This inclusion by NomadMania is expected to significantly boost tourism in BARMM, benefiting both the region and adjacent areas that serve as essential gateways for visitors. Beyond recognizing the cultural significance of BARMM, this decision underscores the effective collaboration and promotional efforts of PGE Philippines.
Dr. Riza Rasco, President and Chairman of The Philippine Global Explorers, shared her excitement about this development. “We are delighted to see BARMM included in NomadMania’s prestigious region list, and we believe this recognition will significantly boost international tourism in the region. It is a win for PGE, a win for Philippine Tourism, and ultimately, a win for the Philippines,” she stated.
NomadMania’s initiative to add BARMM to its region list reflects its commitment to celebrating diverse cultures and spotlighting lesser-known destinations. With this new addition, travel enthusiasts around the globe are expected to be drawn to the unique charm and cultural richness of BARMM, further enhancing its popularity and recognition in the global travel community.
