The Philippine Global Explorers (PGE), in collaboration with travel advocate Jhayde Charlaine, recently held its first community outreach event in Cebu—an educational program designed to introduce children to the enriching world of travel. Hosted in the town of Carmen, the event combined learning and play to help young participants explore the idea of global citizenship in a way that was both engaging and age-appropriate.

PGE, a global network of Filipino travelers, is guided by its mission to promote responsible travel, cross-cultural understanding, and education as a foundation for global citizenship. Through initiatives like this, the organization continues to demonstrate its commitment to creating meaningful learning opportunities rooted in exploration and service.
The day began with a simple but heartfelt program, including a group prayer and the singing of the Philippine national anthem. This was followed by a short talk delivered by Jhayde Charlaine, who spoke to the children about the importance of travel. She shared how visiting new places can help individuals learn about cultures, geography, and diversity—emphasizing that travel isn’t only about movement, but also about discovery, growth, and empathy.

To bring these ideas to life, the program included interactive, travel-themed games. In “Match the World Flags,” children matched countries to their flags, building memory and cultural recognition. In another activity called “Sea, Ship, Shore: Country Edition,” participants raced to identify and stand in front of flags representing different countries. These simple but stimulating exercises were designed to make learning about the world fun and memorable.

A shared lunch featuring Jollibee meals added to the excitement of the day, giving the children time to bond and enjoy a treat. The event concluded with the distribution of educational kits and small gifts, leaving participants with tangible reminders of their experience and new ideas to carry forward.

For the Philippine Global Explorers, the outreach project is more than a one-time event—it represents the organization’s broader vision of empowering Filipinos to engage with the world meaningfully. By introducing travel as a form of education early in life, PGE hopes to nurture a generation of globally conscious individuals equipped with curiosity, compassion, and a sense of belonging in the wider world.

As the organization continues to grow its presence both locally and internationally, this Cebu initiative marks a significant step in its grassroots outreach efforts. Through collaborations with advocates like Jhayde Charlaine, PGE remains dedicated to using travel as a tool to inspire, educate, and connect communities—one child, one story, and one place at a time.
