Meet Jan Vincent Francisco, an inspiring travel organizer, owner and founder of Gala PH Tour Company, and a true adventurer at heart. At just 38 years old, “Javee” as fondly called by friends and family, has already reached incredible milestones in his travel journey, from conquering the highest peaks of the three major Philippine islands to exploring all 82 provinces. His dedication to adventure and exploration earned him recognition as one of the honorees of the first PGE Philippine Travel Masters Award.

Born and raised in Iligan City and an alumnus of the Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology, Javee’s passion for travel began in 2009 taking inspiration from the stories of travel bloggers who were actively discovering the Philippines at the time. Now based in Muntinlupa City, he continues to inspire others with his love for discovery and commitment to highlighting the natural and cultural face of the Philippines through his tour company.

Over the course of seven years, Javee has meticulously visited every province in the country, experiencing not only its nature and people, but also its history, art and culinary parts. An extraordinary achievement that celebrates the diversity and beauty of the archipelago culminated on 15th of August 2016, marking the province of Southern Leyte as the final frontier. His mission was not just about ticking destinations off a list; it was about experiencing the Philippines in its entirety—from its farthest corners to its highest peaks.

“Travelling is not a RACE. It isn’t just about taking pictures. It’s about experiencing the provinces as well as its people, sites, food and culture.”

– Jan Vincent “javee” francisco, when asked about his personal outlook on travel

Home and Beyond

For Javee, the province of Lanao del Norte, where his hometown Iligan City is located, holds a special place in his heart. As he says, “Love your own ika nga.” However, beyond his home and the 82 provinces, Javee’s adventures took him to complete the extreme points of the Philippines, including the geodetic center, just recently in second of March, this year, which comprises:

  • Northernmost Island – Mavulis Island in Itbayat, Batanes
  • Southernmost Island – Sikulan Island in Sibutu, Tawi-Tawi
  • Easternmost Point – Pusan Point in Caraga, Davao Oriental
  • Westernmost Island – Pag-Asa Island in Kalayaan, Palawan
  • Geodetic center – Luzon datum, Mogpog, Marinduque

These destinations, steeped in natural beauty and cultural significance, reflect Javee’s drive to explore the outer limits of what the Philippines has to offer- the literal meaning of “discovering your own background”.

Unforgettable Experiences

When asked about his most memorable experiences, Javee emphasized the sheer magnitude of traveling to these remote and extreme points of the Philippines. From navigating challenging terrains to engaging with locals in far-flung communities, his journey is a testament to determination and adventure. One of the highlights of his travels includes scaling the three highest peaks of the country – Luzon’s Mt. Pulag, Visayas’ Mt. Kanalon, and Mindanao’s Mt. Apo, completed on 14th of April 2014. This achievement displayed his love for both the physical and spiritual challenges of mountaineering.

Advice for Aspiring Travelers

For those inspired to follow his example, Javee believes that travel is as much about the journey as it is about the destination. As a practical and motivational advice, he states, “Start with Purpose. If it is your goal, then no one can definitely do it but yourself. Time and Budget Are Key. Funds and time are essential, so plan wisely and know what to prioritize. Do not focus on the Finish Line. Don’t think about when you will finish, but think about when you will start.”
